Superintendent Danny Adkins wants to remind everyone that October is Anti-Bullying Awareness Month and Safe Schools Week in Kentucky begins October 22.

Adkins comments, “Our Floyd County team is committed to making our schools safe for all students. We have School Resource Officers in each attendance area and we are working to address any safety concern immediately.” Adkins continued, “Having a Safe School Week helps raise awareness and reminds us to make sure we have safe, secure learning environments for our students. We need everyone to be involved and we’re asking students, staff, parents, family members and community members to stand with us and take the “Be INCREDIBLE, Reveal Your SUPERhero!” pledge from the Kentucky Center for School Safety. The pledge asks that we make good choices, respect and encourage others and to report when we know that someone is being bullied.”

Adkins concluded, “We have amazing students and we are focusing on providing them with great opportunities to help them be successful in life. To be successful and take advantage of those opportunities, students need to feel safe. We hope everyone who lives or works in Floyd County joins us in taking the “Be INCREDIBLE, Reveal Your SUPERhero!” pledge and make our kids be bully-free and safe whether they’re in our schools or in our communities.”
