District 9 KMEA Administrator of the Year

Superintendent Danny Adkins congratulates Matt Moon, District 9 Kentucky Music Educator Association (KMEA) Administrator of the Year.

 

Superintendent Adkins comments, “Congratulations Matt on receiving this leadership award. Having known Matt for many years, I’m not surprised to see him recognized for his leadership or his passion for music.” Adkins continues, “Matt’s example as an educator and administrator is to be admired, more importantly, Matt serves as an example the kind of person we should strive to be.”

 

KMEA members in each district annually nominate and select an administrator that has shown tremendous support for music and the arts programs as an administrator. Floyd County along with Breathitt, Johnson, Knott, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Perry and Pike counties make up District 9.

 

Matt Moon, assistant principal at Adams Middle School is formerly the Director of Bands at Pike Central High School where he developed and maintained a distinguished Jazz, Concert, and Marching Program. In 2020, Matt worked with current Pike Central Band Director Mr. Jason Johnson to prepare the Pike Central Jazz Band for a performance at the Kentucky Music Educators Conference in Louisville. As assistant principal, Matt continues to be an advocate for music education in Eastern Kentucky.

 

The music educators of KMEA District 9 recognize his achievements and passion in the field of music education. This award will also make Matt Moon eligible for the state level award.
